Everything about the Super Summer Holiday Ticket

blur The public transport network in Germany is really unbelievably good. I have been able to convince myself of this time and again through campaigns such as the Super Summer Holiday Ticket. I have designed this guide for you so that you can really use it to your advantage. Make the most of your holidays and remain sustainable. Because public transport is your opportunity to see a lot without putting unnecessary strain on the environment. Long story short: I am Benjamin Krüger and today I will tell you everything you need to know about the Super Summer Holiday Ticket.

The facts about the Super Summer Holiday Ticket

metro Let’s first talk about the hard facts. Every federal state has its own Super Summer Holiday Ticket for the summer holidays. With this you can then travel throughout the entire state for a fair price and use all public transport, although there are always exceptions. For example, all ICE trains are usually excluded from such offers and it applies to regional public transport. But you only have to read the small print and you’re on the safe side. In Saxony, for example, there was the YOLO ticket for just 32 euros. That’s a really good price for the service you get.

But in Saxony there was the Super Summer Holiday Ticket for just 18 euros. So for just 18 euros you can travel all over Saxony! The condition is that you are under 21 years old and are either still at school or in training. By the way, your bike can always travel with you free of charge! Perfect, right? If that doesn’t sound like the ultimate holiday fun, then I don’t know what does.

The best activities in Saxony for perfect holidays

Do you want to make your holidays unforgettable? Then I have activities for you that you can do using public transport. So grab your friends and make your summer unique. You won’t get this time back. Be young, free and carefree and don’t waste any time thinking about school – the holidays go by quicker than you’d like anyway.

1. Off to the Upper Lock

Have you ever been to the Upper Lock? If you like nature, you’ll definitely love it here. I think a boat trip here is really worthwhile. You can also do a circular walk, which you should plan on about two hours for. You’ll pass the Badger Cave, and if you have younger siblings, you should take them with you, because they’ll definitely love this little adventure!

2. Fancy a trip to the zoo?

Zoos are definitely a topic that is a bit difficult. But I think the zoo in Leipzig is really great. A little piece of nature in the middle of Leipzig. The zoo is divided into six adventure worlds, which makes the whole thing particularly exciting. There is a lot to discover here. There are giant otters, sloths, flamingos and also an animal kindergarten with a petting zoo. No matter how old: everyone loves a petting zoo, right?

3. Discover Dresden!

Is there a better activity than discovering a city from a new perspective during the holidays? Let yourself drift through the city and discover it that way. Or take a free walking tour or a scavenger hunt. Go to the theater, to a concert, go out for a meal or try a dessert you’ve never tried before. There is so much to experience here that you should come here several times with your holiday ticket. I especially love the old town here, but who knows what your favorite thing in this wonderful city will be at the end of the holidays? It’s always exciting!

4. Visit the Sonnenlandpark

Want a bit of action? Then visit Sonnenland Park, although I think it’s more suitable for younger children. There’s a swing carousel and trampolines. It’s definitely worth a trip with the whole family. It’s suitable for children up to 13 years old. And there’s a donkey!

5. Go to the Stone Zoo

Off to the Zittau Mountains! There is the stone zoo here, which I find so impressive. The sandstone formations are reminiscent of animals. There are also three fairly easy hikes on which you can discover the stone animals. The atmosphere here is, in my opinion, something very special.

6. Fancy paragliding?

If you are old enough, you can go paragliding on the Fichtelberg in Oberwiesenthal. Perfect for all the adrenaline junkies among us. Of course, everything is with a professional who makes sure that everything is safe and explains everything in detail. If you don’t dare, you can just watch the other brave people. That’s exciting too!

7. Fancy a castle?

Rochlitz Castle is always a highlight for me. It’s particularly cool that you can take a special tour with virtual reality glasses that take you straight back to another era. I think it’s really cool when digitalization is used to teach us history. Very clever and exciting for just about any age.

8. Plohn Leisure Park

The Plohn leisure park is a kind of fairytale park, but it also has a bit of action to offer. There is fun for the whole family here. And you can get there with your holiday ticket. Cool, right?

9. Belantis

Belantis is another really cool theme park that is worth a visit if you like visiting parks like this. There are also really cool shows and seasonal offers here. So it’s worth coming again even outside of your holiday ticket offer. But you can really check out the park during the summer holidays. Maybe a season pass is even worth it?

10. Do you love dinosaurs?

dinosaur Attention all dinosaur fans: The Dinosaur Park in Saxony can be reached with your holiday ticket and is so cool! There are life-size dinosaur figures, tracks, museums and you can learn a lot. For me, a very cool place! Perfect for all Jurassic Park fans and those who want to become one.

11. Elbe Leisure Land

For anyone travelling with small children, the Elbe Freizeitland is also worth a visit. There is a great playground, lots of nature and enough opportunities to have a particularly nice day.

12. Fancy a water park?

It’s summer, it’s ideally hot, you have a great ticket for public transport: That screams water park, doesn’t it? Here are my favorites:

      • Aqua Marien for really cool water slides
      • Leisure Bad Grafensteine
      • Forest pool in Mannichswalde
      • Krauschwitz water park
      • Platsch leisure pool

But that’s not all. You’ll definitely find a water park that’s not too far away for you. And even if it’s further away: your Super Summer Holiday Ticket makes everything possible, doesn’t it?

13. Want to go to the lake?

Luckily, Saxony has a lot of lakes to offer, so you definitely won’t get bored. You could even make it your goal during your vacation to try out all the lakes in your area. In my opinion, these are particularly worthwhile:

      • Markkleeberger See for a real beach experience
      • Zwenkauer See for one of the largest bodies of water in Saxony
      • Störmthaler See for all those who like to do water sports
      • Kulkwitzer Lake for everyone who likes diving!
      • Cospudener See, which is small but still really beautiful and worth visiting

14. Fancy museums?

If you want to check out some museums, perhaps for rainy days or days when it’s so hot you want to hide from the sun, check out these favorites of mine.

      • Dresden-Zwinger
      • Green Vault
      • Old Masters Picture Gallery
      • Residenzschloss
      • Panometer in Dresden (this is my secret favorite!)

15. The country park in Lauenbrück

The LandPark is really worth a visit, see for yourself.

Here are some more quick recommendations.

  • Mini Zoo in Aue
